Many thanks for your comment. I see with pleasure that we are on the same side together. This address made by Mr Guéant is on the same line as the famous speech made by M. Sarkozy in Dakar. What a pity to have leaders with no culture and no understanding of today’s world. I am presently in Haïti, working with young haitians and I see here the effects of Western (en French !) civilization…

Brother Dom, these are extraordinary beautiful words! Wise words, human words!
I do remember that, as The French Philosoph said: Man is neither an angel nor an animal! However whoever wants to be an angel becoms an animal!
Ask your minister where his president came from, originally??!!!
I am happy he helped me push you to bring out these beautiful words of Indian Chiefs! It reminds me very much of what Senegalese wisemen used to say: White people belive in money, just money! Anything else is secondary and yet their ancesters used to be as human as ours! But when money was invented they agree to turn everything into money and so, neither the earth nor the pzople on it are important! Make money, just money and the rest will be ok!It is really sad!

“How are Canadian citizens reacting?” As a Canadian, I am embarrassed to say that there has been little reaction. Everyone already knew that the government, with a base in oil-rich Alberta, was not serious about meeting its Kyoto commitment. That is not to say that the previous government was much different. Signing Kyoto was good for domestic and foreign political purposes, but there was never any serious leadership taken to implement it. 2008 was the last time a major federal political party ran on a platform centred on the environment. Unfortunately, that party was badly defeated by a campaign of disinformation from the other parties.
